I can’t dance but I try (Accumulation no 1): For some time I have been collecting footage and interviewing people I know in both England and Germany about their lives. Common themes have emerged despite the people not knowing each other and spatial differences: a try to find one’s own way in the world and a dealing with the past.
This work is similar to ‘Not far from tomorrow’ in subject, but also in procedure and format. The captured elements can come together in different accumulations to a fragmented, ever changing whole. Of this ‘I can’t dance but I try’ (Accumulation no 1) would be one edit.
