Not far from tomorrow is a constantly growing collection of photographs that depict everyday scenes. For it I have been photographing predominantly people that I know and environments that I am familiar with for years. An underlying theme here stays similar: an awareness of the shortcomings of being and a search, a search for identity, for communication and affection, for truth, for a better life. This work is not only an ongoing photographic one but also an archive work and currently forms the largest part of my practice.
The way of showing I developed for this work reflects its character: as it is not a chronological story with a beginning and an end, but a fragmented ever changing collection, I have shown the photographs in the past in different sizes spread out over the walls with black, white and turned around images in between. I am currently working on slide show formats, which would also react on the sequential character of some of the images and play with the space on the screen. The way the work is shown further depends on and is a reaction to the space it is shown in.
Similarly the edit of the images shown on the website will also change frequently.
