Christiane Thalmann is a practising artist based in Sheffield, UK.

Her practice is concerned with issues around current human existence, focussing on sometimes smaller, sometimes bigger fragments of it. She employs a wide range of media including photography, video, drawing, writing, sound, animation, altered pre existing material and installation.

She has exhibited nationally and internationally. In 2011 her work was i.e. shown at Zeche Scherlebeck, Herten, Germany, WAMMFest, Maryland, USA and South Square Gallery, Bradford; in 2010 she participated in the Bristol Festival of Photography; 2009 saw an installation of selected pieces in a solo exhibition at Bloc Space, Sheffield; in 2008 one of her video pieces was exhibited at the Ladyfest, Manchester, whilst an animation piece was shown at art and film festivals in France, Holland, Spain, and Mexico. Her work has been published in several publications such as ‘The Sheffield Pavilion’ (2007) and ‘Parallelwelten’ (2000). She has so far twice received an Arts Council England award.
